"Screwballs" is for grades 3-4 and is intended to build off of what players learn in "Curveballs" and build on the basic fundamentals of the game. Parents are welcome to come, watch, learn, and even participate! Youth Academy courses are 8-weeks in length and cost $300 per course.
Winter Hitting Leagues - the Academy will also be reviving their popular hitting leagues starting in November. The league will run eight weeks with games play on Sunday afternoons. Each game will be approximately one hour long and each team will have two or three players. The batting cage will be divided into four equal sections for scoring one, two, three, or four points with the emphasis on live drives up the middle of the field. Failure to score a point in three swings results in an out, three outs per side. All games will be against a JUGS machine. Awards will be given for an all-star team, league MVP, and league champions. Cost is $100 per player.
College Prospect Mini-Camps - by popular demand, the Academy will be renewing their College Prospect Mini-Camps this off-season. In 2006-2007, the Academy brought coaches from Michigan, Central Michigan, Oakland, Kellogg CC, Concordia, Albion, Adrian, and St. Clair CC to Traverse City for one day exposure camps. Each camp will be two hours long (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.) and will be limited to 9 participants and run $100. Players enrolled in the Academy will have priority registration for these camps while players who are not enrolled in the Academy will be wait listed until two weeks prior to the scheduled date.
